O'Grady was born in Wheaton, Illinois and graduated from the Wheaton North High School in 1981. She is the daughter Jan O'Grady (a Financial planner) as well as Jim O'Grady. Her role as the tall blonde secretary of the squad was performed from 1993 to 1996. Each of the years, she received the Emmy Award in the category for Outstanding Supporting Performance of Drama Series.
